Terms and Conditions

The HKS Handelskammer Hamburg Service GmbH takes protection of your personal data very seriously. Protecting your privacy when processing personal data is a key concern for us. The HKS Handelskammer Service GmbH processes personal data gathered when visiting our web pages solely in accordance with the statutory provisions. For us, it is important that you know at all times what data we are storing and when, and how we use that data (the transparency principle). We therefore aim to set out below how the HKS processes your data, and the importance of this for you in practical terms when using our services.

Personal data

Personal data is individual elements of information about natural persons which allow conclusions to be drawn regarding your personal, financial or material circumstances. This would include address and contact details, for example. Information not directly connected with your actual identity (e.g. visiting favourite websites or the number of users of a site) is not classed as personal data.
In essence, all rubrics showing in the publicly-accessible area of our internet site can be visited. User authentication is not required for such visits. It is only if you sign up for one of our personalised services that we ask for your name and other personal information. It is not possible to provide these services without this. To that extent, data entry is voluntary, but required to sign up for such services. All personal data which you provide is handled in accordance with the applicable data protection laws. The data is processed solely for the actual purpose for which it has been given. Data is not passed on to third parties. The only exceptions to this are where the data has to be passed on in order to process your inquiry.

We use an automated statistical reporting tool, which serves to measure and analyse the visits to our website. We use your IP address for this, with the aim of gathering technical data including information on internet traffic and on the browser and computer used. This anonymous data is stored separately from personal data, on secure internal systems, and cannot therefore be traced back to an individual person. This data is collected solely in order to ensure our internet site is optimally adjusted to meet user needs. There is no linking of personal data with the anonymous data, nor any evaluation of such linked data.
Use of cookies

Our internet site uses cookies. Cookies are small text files sent by the web server to your PC and generally stored on your hard disk. These are not programs which can penetrate the user system and cause damage there. Although cookies can identify the computer you are using, the cookies themselves do not store any personal data. When you revisit our website, the cookie indicates that this is a repeat visit. You can configure your browser to refuse to accept cookies altogether, or to inform you in advance if a cookie is being stored. You can find more information on this in the operating instructions for your internet browser.
Revocation of consent

In addition to this, you can revoke your consent to the gathering, processing and use of your personal data at any time, with future effect. If you have provided us with personal data (e.g. when requesting a newsletter), you have the option at all times simply to delete this data. To do so, either use the form provided for deregistration, send us an e-mail to info@hamburg-summit.com, or contact us by phone. After completing the security check, all your data relating to this service is irretrievably deleted from our systems.

The HKS Handelskammer Hamburg Service GmbH is not liable for the content of other providers which can be accessed via hyperlinks. The linked external pages are exclusively found on third-party sites for which we accept no liability and where we exercise no control over the content. Whilst this content was checked for breaches of the law and of propriety prior to linking, the possibility of the content later being changed by the providers cannot be ruled out. The Hamburg Chamber of Commerce is not obliged to monitor the linked pages constantly for changes. However, if you should notice breaches of the law or other inappropriate content on linked pages, please inform us. Furthermore, we expressly distance ourselves from internet content which breaches the law or which violates accepted moral standards.
